🇬🇧 My name is Federica Nanni and I was born and raised in a small town north of Milan, in Italy.
Catholic faith and Church were, back then, and still are at the base of the great majority of Italian families, but it were also the 70s, and many things in civil society were changing: when the time came for me to go to school, my parents decided that I would be exempted from attending catechism (that is the Christian religious teaching from the New Testament starting from third grade); at the age of eight, I was told that I would be free to choose whether and which religion to embrace, once become an adult.
Many years have passed since then, yet the childlike curiosity about God did not abandon me, and I always kept seeking…
At 21, I suddenly dropped out of college and began to travel. Seeing the world can really open our eyes and broaden our minds, but it can also put a strain on us, as we go through life and its difficulties. Nevertheless, here I am, happily married for 20 years, now, sharing what I believe is the most important truth I have learned i.e. we are all one people, all different, all connected. I believe in love, because love is all that matters. Because love conquers all. Omnia Vincit Amor.

 

🇮🇹 Il mio nome è Federica Nanni e sono nata e cresciuta in una piccola città a nord di Milano, in Italia.
La fede e la chiesa cattolica erano, allora, e sono tutt’oggi alla base della grande maggioranza delle famiglie italiane, ma erano anche gli anni ’70 e molte cose nella società civile stavano cambiando: quando venne il momento per me di andare a scuola, i miei genitori decisero che sarei stata esentata dal frequentare il catechismo; mi dissero, all’età di otto anni, che avrei avuto la libertà di scegliere, una volta divenuta adulta, se ed eventualmente quale religione abbracciare.
Molti anni sono trascorsi, eppure l’ingenua curiosità verso Dio non mi ha abbandonato ed ho sempre continuato a cercare…
A 21 anni ho improvvisamente lasciato l’università ed ho iniziato a viaggiare. Vedere il mondo é davvero in grado di aprire gli occhi ed allargare la mente, ma può anche metterci a dura prova, mentre attraversiamo la vita e le sue difficoltà. Ciónondimeno, eccomi qui, oggi, felicemente sposata da 20 anni, a condividere quella che credo sia la veritá più importante che ho imparato, ovvero che siamo tutti un solo popolo, tutti diversi, tutti collegati. Credo nell’amore, perché l’amore è tutto ciò che conta. Perché l’amore vince tutto. Omnia Vincit Amor.
